Test Your Well Water! – March 16

Sunday, February 1st, 2009

St. Clair Township and the Butler County Engineer’s Office are sponsoring a free well water screening on Monday March 16, 2009 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the St. Clair Township Fire Station located at 3900 Hamilton-Trenton Rd.

The event includes:

  • Free confidential nitrate screening
  • Well maintenance info
  • Fun children’s activities
  • Free Refreshments

Who should participate:

  • Is your home’s well more than 40 years old?
  • Is your well less than 50 ft. deep?
  • Has it been more than a year since your well was tested?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, bring a well water sample to the free workshop.  Within about 30 minutes, you’ll know if there might be a problem with your well.

To collect your sample properly:

  • Use any clean jar that seals properly
  • Alternately, pick up a free sample bottle from the St. Clair Twp. Admin Building or the Butler Soil and Water Conservation District
  • Plan to collect the sample on January 14 if possible
  • Remove any screen or filter from your faucet
  • Run the water for five minutes to clear the lines and bring in fresh water
  • Do not touch the lip of the jar, the inside of the jar or inside the cap
  • Fill the bottle and cap it snugly
  • Refrigerate the sample until the workshop
  • Bring your sample to the event between 5:30pm and 7:30pm on March 16
